Buddha Bags is more than just a business that makes bags for yoga mats. Buddha Bags reflect the belief that a well-designed, handcrafted and affordable product can be made in Canada. As cofounder, I’m responsible for all marketing, including branding, social media, website development, and crowdfunding.
Branding
Through the use of the logo, colour palette, and photography, I’ve created an aesthetic that reflects the lifestyle and philosophy of the company. The hand-made and personalized nature of the bags are shown in the logo, while the boldness of the colour palette shows the energizing nature of yoga.
Shopify
Shopify has been utilized to showcase our products online, process all of our sales, and manage our customer relationships. Several plugins have been utilized to extend the website’s functionality, which have enabled listing our products on various social networks, integrating our website with Mailchimp, and more. I write a monthly blog post for the site.
Crowdfunding
As part of our crowdfunding efforts, I produced, directed, and edited this video. I enlisted the help of some very talented people for script writing, cinematography, and sound recording, as well as hired a yoga instructor, cashed in major favours having my cousins act in it, and rented a beautiful yoga studio for the shoot. Facebook ads and a press release were used to spread the word about the campaign.
Social Media
A large point of emphasis in my efforts has been to build up a social media following. Focusing on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest, our following keeps growing as I’ve continued to create original content using photography and yoga related memes.
